Sonically, what impresses me the most is the feedback rejection when using open microphones close to the speaker. There are no active components or notch filters fading out "hot" frequencies, and no self-setting EQs. Don't get me wrong, it can generate feedback at some point, but the level you can achieve without any equalization is very impressive. It's the perfect speaker for a one-man band or for playing backtracks and vocals. It's the speaker you want to quickly set up and address your 150-strong workforce outside.

Thirdly, there is excellent service and parts availability.

The entire range of Wharfedale speakers, amplifiers, and mixers is easily serviceable. We can repair any of their products because the parts and technicians are readily available. In most cases, obtaining an amplifier module, replacement diaphragm, or woofer is a simple process, and the best part is that it's relatively inexpensive. We have encountered difficulties with repairs for JBL powered speakers where parts are unavailable, and if available, the cost of an amplifier's power supply module is close to that of a complete new speaker. With the Wharfedale brand, there is a lot of support available when things go wrong, and that is something to fully consider when investing in or suggesting a sound system to a customer.

The Wharfedale Typhon AX 12BT has many other features. The "BT" in the model number refers to its Bluetooth capabilities. You can wirelessly link a single speaker or two in a stereo pair. It has a built-in two-channel mixer, each with its own dedicated mic/line switch, XLR input, and volume control. The XLR link output can be set as pre or post-master level control, making it quite versatile as a stereo system or for connecting multiple mono speakers to the same output feed. The four built-in DSP modes - Monitor, Bass, Flat, and Punch - provide additional flexibility. There is also a front LED On/Off switch and crossover switch when used with the Wharfedale Titan T Sub.
