Recording a meeting, hearing, or court assembly can be quite tricky. With this portable solution, you can record up to four switchable microphones clearly, all in the portability of a padded backpack. This system can scale to any number of microphones, but we have found that using up to four microphones or up to six microphones is the most practical for portability.
The applications where these systems work best are portable disciplinary hearings at remote offices, portable court proceedings, and portable meeting recordings at remote offices and venues.
This recording set comes with either one to four microphones or five to six Samson CM20P microphones. Each microphone has the ability to be always on, push-to-mute, push-to-talk, or push-to-switch on functionality. The cardioid pattern of the microphone makes recording soft voices at a distance intelligible, and the Allen&Heath ZED I10 Mixer (for four microphones maximum) or Allen&Heath ZED14 (for six microphones maximum) handles the loudest voices with ease.
Very few settings, actually none, need to be changed between meetings, and the microphones only fit into the correct plugs on the mixer. So, if all the knobs are in the middle, all the microphones are plugged into where they fit, and the one USB cable is plugged into your PC, the DVP (Digital Voice Processing) LCT Software will record. Oh, you also need to click on the record symbol on the screen.
The beauty of this Samson, Allen&Heath Portable Recording System lies in its simplicity. All the microphone cables are fixed to the microphone bases (Samson MBR1) and extend to ten meters. All the equipment fits into a medium-sized laptop backpack that we supply and weighs less than a desktop PC. All the knobs in the middle, switch on, and press record – that’s it.
The system featured is being used in a commerce court in Kimberley, Northern Cape, where they have one microphone at the arbiter’s desk and one at each participating party. The room size in this case is ten meters by five meters, and the cables reach all positions comfortably. This design was chosen in particular because of its ease of use and portability.
