The ZED Range
The Allen&Heath ranges of mixers start off with the smallest mixer they produce the ZED6 in which you’ll find two XLR microphone channels and two, dual-14” jack stereo channels. From here the ZED range branches off into the ZED I range such as the ZED i6, ZED i8 and ZED i10 – with or without FX and all featuring USB Audio Sound Card for Playback or streaming audio out from.
The “Standard” ZED Range features steel chassis, individual channel strips, 2 Channel (routable to the stereo channel strips or master out) UBS audio sound card, ultra-reliable in a small package ZED10 and ZED10FX. The range transition from this small 4mono, 2 Stereo, 2 Aux configuration, through a 6 mono, 10 mono, 16 mono, 24, and right up to a 32 Mono, 4bus mixer.. A very common mixer in the range (for house-of-worship) duties is the Allen&Heath ZED22 FX – featuring 16 mono, two stereo, 4 auxiliary outs with USB sound card and effects.
The QU and SQ Ranges
The Digital ranges start off with the QU Series as the more affordable range, available in three models – QU16C, QU24C and QU32C – each featuring 16, 24 or 32 XLR Mic inputs. These mixers are mainly aimed at church or house of worship sound re-inforcement, small theatres and schools, any place where a simple to operate mixer is needed that is packed with all the audio features you can possibly require. The SQ range also come in the three different sizes SQ5, SQ6 and SQ7 but is aimed at the more professional user – the construction of the SQ range is also “Build for the Road Tough”.
Both these ranges have local XLR inputs which can be used as stand alone, or can connect to a stage box such as the AB1608 via LAN (CAT6 cable). The individual channel strips can then be assigned to the stage box input of onboard inputs making this system very flexible. The SQ range can be expanded by the use of on-board cards giving your mixer extra functionality such as Dante, Waves Extra network connections or better integration with the ME monitoring systems.
The Avantis
The Avantis audio mixer is truly in a class of its own, being very affordable compared to mixers in its class, such as the Soundcraft VI range, the Avantis is the true professional’s audio mixer. Featuring 12 onboard XLR mic inputs and 14 outputs it is ready to go out of the box. Naturally you can also opt to use all the channels from the GX4816 stage box or any combination you need. Expandable with two card slots for Dante, Waves, network connections, ME monitoring expandability and so on. The Avantis from Allen&Heath is truly the perfect solution to any complex mixing problem.
